Restaurant Tasso is established in the beautifully restored Koninklijk Pakhuis (Royal Warehouse) on the site of Tour & Taxis. This location is unique in Brussels and combines both business and leisure in an extraordinary fashion.
On the ground floor of the building a piece of former railway tracks, around which the ‘inside’ street (180m long and 18m wide) is situated, was kept intact. This inside street consists of a collection of stores, restaurants and services.
Tasso is located in the Zuidelijke Vleugel (South Wing) of the building (on the side of Picardstraat).
The upper floors accommodate businesses of all sorts.
Name
Restaurant Tasso was named after the founder of the European postal services, Francesco Tasso of Italy (1450-1517). He was a descendant of the famous “Von Thurn und Taxis” family and was appointed captain and master of the post by Philip the Fair in 1501.
Interior
The interior is a mix of elegantly classic design with a hint of ‘nouveau chic’. The atmosphere is intimate, luxurious and mysterious at the same time, thanks to a distinct choice in both materials and techniques: parquet in combination with glass concrete for the floors, loam stucco and enamel paint for the walls, a ceiling decorated with 30.000 wooden pear shapes, an impressive chandelier above the bar, …
Kitchen
Chef Chris Vilters only uses products of the highest quality. When preparing his delightful dishes he strives to preserve their natural characteristics, whilst always ensuring a contemporary, creative touch. Even the smallest of details of your gastronomic experience are meticulously looked after by the chef: whether this means creating an original amuse-bouche, freshly baking an oven-fresh bread roll to accompany a meal or whip up a sweet snack to go with the coffee.
Every evening we serve a carefully selected 5 course degustation menu of € 64,50 per person. With wine suited for the menu: € 84,50 p.p.
This menu is solely served per table.
Capacity
The restaurant has a capacity of up to 150 people and an outside terrace of up to 75 people. We can accommodate large groups. We are more than happy to work out a tailor-made menu: info@tassobxl.be
