studio octopi are an award winning practice. The practice produces sensitive, analytical and crafted architecture.

Our work is rooted in an architecture of context and craft. The materiality and detailing of each project is balanced alongside each project’s environmental and historical condition. We place great emphasis on the referencing of a project, drawing from both the arts but also a close observation of our surroundings; the incidental and everyday.

The use of traditional construction expertise coupled with an inventive application of materials and exceptional detailing can be seen to characterise our work. The practice’s architecture has been awarded for its clarity of form and detail, where interiors and furniture are considered part of the cohesive design process.

Co directors James Lowe and Chris Romer-Lee met during their studies at the University of Plymouth and the Bartlett School of Architecture, London. Following a number of years working in selected offices in London and overseas, studio octopi was formed in 2004.
