The Jane and Arthur Stieren Center for Exhibitions is Ford, Powell & Carson's sixth expansion project at the McNay Art Museum and was designed in conjunction with French architect Jean-Paul Viguier. Ford, Powell & Carson was the executive architect and architect of record for the 45,000 square foot exhibition space, which features an innovative skylight system, a partially earth-sheltered building, and glass-walled loggias overlooking new gardens. The galleries feature wood and slate floors and granite veneers on the buildings exterior. The new Stieren Center also includes an auditorium with a rooftop terrace and a glass-walled connection to the original building.
