Christian Vivanco was born in Mexico 27 years ago. Since he was a little boy, he followed the passages of creativity with constant restlessness, always playing with clay and wood,, painting and cutting everything he could get his hands on, drawing everyday, on paper and in his imagination.
In 2007, Christian graduated with honors from the UASLP at México, receiving a perfect evaluation. He continued on his way to Barcelona; a city where he received a Master in Concept and Product Development at the Elisava School of Design.
During this period, he had the opportunity to meet and learn from great designers such as Damaris&Marc, Gerard Moline, Ramon Úbeda and Hiroshi Tsunoda, with whom he has built friendships and work relationships with, frequently collaborating in a diverse range of projects.
In 2009, he was selected by Wallpaper magazine as one of the top emerging young designers to follow. That same year founded The Emotion Lab together with Tom Allen, Marta Falcón and Yago Rodríguez, a new adventure looking for a more emotional approach to design.
He has been characterized from the beginning of his career for his strive to perfect the function and the use of daily objects; for his rejection of those that exceed the basics. Christian believes that objects exists not only to satisfy necessities, but also to create sparks within the soul of those who observe them, of those who use them and enjoy them.
So...what will you find here?
All the projects that you can see on this website are exercises, tests and designs that explore one major theme; human nature -our attractions, desires, rejections – what we enjoy and why.
The inspiration is everyday people, from our friends to the strangers we see on the subway. We all share something in common: the ability to smile. All of us like to see a smile in everyone, everywhere. All of the designs you will find here try to evoke just that, a smile.
The ideas are by Christian Vivanco, if you are interested in them or in the opportunity to collaborate on new ones, do not hesitate to get in touch with him.
