A gift of love, of passion, with some eccentricity thrown in for good measure is why the Chateau La Thuiliere is here today.
In 1889 the prosperous Mr Michel Petit bought, from the Marquis de Foucault, some land belonging to the nearby Chateau de Bridoire, land comprising woods and fields bordering the river Isle, meandering through the district of St Front de Pradoux.
He chose the most appealing spot on this newly purchased land to build a charming chateau, which he intended as a fabulous summer residence for his fiancée, Madame Claire Angeline Beguerie.
